Question to EFSA: How can Aspartame be considered safe?

| | Comments (1)

Does the European Food Safety Authority have 'an inbred conflict of interest' in the matter of the artificial sweetener Aspartame?

efsa.jpeg

Betty Martini of Mission Possible International definitely seems to think so. She asks "How can aspartame be considered safe when independent scientific peer reviewed research consistently shows it is deadly?"

And she reminds EFSA of studies that show Aspartame to be a danger to health, while the agency has apparently decided to look the other way.

See Betty's letter to EFSA's Jeffrey Moon...

Mr. Jeffrey Moon,
European Food Safety Authority

Dear Jeffrey:

I have a question that really needs to be answered.

How can aspartame be considered safe when independent scientific peer reviewed research consistently shows it is deadly?

Has EFSA decided to ignore all damning research and only accept studies funded by the aspartame industry?

Example: EFSA uses the Ajinomoto-funded Burdock "study" by industry flacks with conflict of interest and disregards enormous contrary scientific research.

To assist EFSA to understand the coverup methods of industry, researcher Mark Gold scrupulously detailed their scientific abuse in aspartame seizure studies:

Scientific Abuse in Seizure Research Related to Aspartame

and scientific abuse and possible fraud in Monsanto aspartame research:

Abuse of the Scientific Method Seen in Monsanto Aspartame Research

Scientific Abuse in Migraine/Headache Research Related to Aspartame

There is also abundant evidence of scientific abuse in aspartame Parkinson's studies, methanol toxicity, etc.

For a government agency to be unbiased, it must eschew conflict of interest and only consider independent scientific peer reviewed research by qualified experts worldwide. These uniformly show aspartame is deadly. EFSA's modus operandi is to ignore such real science. Shame!

It was the European Parliament who requested a new review because they saw voluminous research showing aspartame is unsafe such as the Denmark Study on 60,000 women showing aspartame jumps preterm births up by 78%, and three studies by Dr. Morando Soffritti of the Ramazzini Institute, showing aspartame is a "Multipotential carcinogen" causing lung and liver cancer as well as leukemia and mammary cancer.

Greenmedinfo lists several additional damning studies on this page

More are listed on our site, www.mpwhi.com, under "Peer Reviewed Research" at the top of the page.

Another paper lists even more research showing diet soda destroys kidney function, causes heart attacks & strokes.

Parliament is Right: Independent aspartame studies prove it's not safe.

Egyptian research revealed the effects of memory destruction and oxidative stress in the brains of mice

Gender Dimorphism in Aspartame-Induced Impairment Of Spatial Cognition And Insulin Sensitivity; July 13, 2012

At the American Diabetes Assoication's 71st Scientific Sessions in San Diego a study was presented; Aspartame Consumption Is Associated with Elevated Fasting Glucose in Diabetes-Prone Mice; Sharon Parten Fowler, M.P.H., et al.; June 24-28, 2011 (the study has been removed from the internet and is no longer accessible)

In 1993, Walton et al published a study showing aspartame causes severe depression

Adverse reactions to aspartame: double-blind challenge in patients from a vulnerable population. (The reactions in the aspartame group were so severe that the Institutional Review Board halted the study after only 13 individuals in the aspartame group had completed the study.)

A Harvard Study proved aspartame can cause non-Hodgkin lymphona, multiple myeloma and leukemia confirming Dr. Soffritti's work.

Another study linked aspartame to diabetes, something that has been known for 30 years. Endocrinologist Dr. H. J. Roberts said aspartame not only precipitates diabetes but aggravates and simulates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, converting to methanol which destroys the optic nerve and causes convulsions. It even interacts with insulin. (http://www.dorway.com/betty/diabetes.html)

These are recent studies!

You realize I could continue with scientific peer reviewed research on aspartame showing over and over and over that it is a killer. So if you remove all the conflict of interest and industry bribed "research", what is left defines aspartame as an addictive, excitoneurotoxic, genetically engineered, carcinogenic drug and adjuvant. You are well aware of the Trocho Study which showed aspartame embalms living tissue and damages DNA.

Formaldehyde derived from dietary aspartame binds to tissue components in vivo.

Dr. Woodrow Monte authored: "While Science Sleeps" Here is the last chapter:

Chapter 12 - Autism and other Birth Defects

This absolutely shows FDA knew aspartame causes birth defects before it was approved, and conspired with the manufacturer to seal the studies and never allow the public to know. It produced epidemic autism! In the U.S. one in 50 school children is autistic.

1 in 50 American kids has autism, controversial survey says

Even Dr. Herman Koeter who headed EFSA's committee confessed they were pressured by industry to hijack science: http://www.mpwhi.com/pressured_to_hijack_science.htm

Just one of these studies could ban aspartame but there are so many its overwhelming! EFSA uses rigged industry research to rebut/ignore honest, legitimate studies. If 100 unbiased upright researchers study aspartame and prove it is unsafe will EFSA ignore or rebut them all, as it has done in the past? EFSA's record gives the answer.

So here again my original question: Why does EFSA approve aspartame when nearly all independent peer reviewed studies show its deadly?

When I say nearly all independent studies, consider Dr. Ralph Walton's research for 60 Minutes. Survey of Aspartame studies: Correlation of outcome and funding sources

He found 92% of all independent studies showed aspartame was not safe. However, he also said if you eliminate 6 studies that the FDA had something to do with because of the controversy and one industry summary, 100% found it unsafe.

Consider when the FDA Board of Inquiry revoked the petition for approval, they said it was because of the brain tumor issue and the fact aspartame could not be proven safe.

FDA had originally tried to have G. D. Searle indicted for fraud because they got caught trying to show it was safe when it wasn't. To this day we have put up with industry studies trying to show safety when, in fact, they show scientific abuse. You cannot take a chemical poison and have it show safety. Even FDA toxicologist, Dr. Jacqueline Verrett said in 1987 aspartame still had not been proven safe and this was 6 years after it was approved.

http://www.wnho.net/j_verrett_testimony.pdf

In fact, the Senior FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross, told Congress aspartame violated the Delaney Amendment because of the brain tumors and brain cancer. Delaney Amendment forbids adding anything to food and drugs that is known to cause cancer. He also said the FDA should not have been able to set an allowable daily dose, and if the FDA violated its own laws, who was left to protect the public? Because he constantly spoke out about aspartame he was shipped to the EPA!

You also know aspartame was approved in England through a business deal between G. D. Searle and Dr. Paul Turner of the agency there. No studies were done in the UK.

Without an answer EFSA admits it certainly does not protect Europeans because it has an inbred conflict of interest and loyalty to the manufacturers/marketers of aspartame, so to hell with the population of Europe! Let them die.

I know Jeff, you may not be on this committee anymore but you know where to forward this for that answer. I do have some names with EFSA.

The same dose of methanol (wood alcohol), 40 mg, comes from 2 cans of aspartame diet drink or the smoke from a pack of cigarettes.

ADH1 enzyme makes methanol, which reaches every cell in the body and fetus every minute, with blood half-life 3 hours, into free floating formaldehyde right inside the cells of 20 human tissues with high levels of enzyme, notably the inner walls of brain blood vessels, the Purkinje cells of the vermis in the cerebellum, and rods and cones of the retina -- the very sites where initial brain harm evolves for many diseases.
