Aspartame: The Truth of the Ramazzini Study and the discredited European Food Safety Authority

Searle, the original manufacturer was caught red-handed as discussed in the FDA audit, the Bressler Report: http://www.dorway.com/bressler.txt This is the report that gives aspartame manufacturers indigestion. But its a lot worse. I spoke to Jerome Bressler since his retirement and he told me as well as Dr. H. J. Roberts and Dr. Russell Blaylock that when the FDA retyped his report they eliminated the worst 20%. That's how bad the studies were and the shenanigans the manufacturer were trying to pull to take a deadly excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug and have it show safety. They just couldn't do it.

Aspartame is so deadly that at one time it was listed with the pentagon in an inventory of prospective biochemical warfare weapons submitted to Congress. Once aspartame was on the market the FDA couldn't say, well yes its approved but its a deadly poison and we tried to revoke the petition for approval but the manufacturer's influence put it on the market. Don Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle when he said he would call in his markers and get it approved as discussed in the congressional record and UPI investigation. So the FDA has been lying ever since about aspartame. And now they have a wonderful relationship with the manufacturers of aspartame. They need to close down the revolving door and build a bridge to take care of the traffic.

Industry has always stopped testing rats at 2 years even though they don't begin to have brain tumors until about 1 1/2 years. So now a study is done in Italy and they decide to make it so impeccable they even let the rats live 3 years to be sure. And they found that only the rats fed aspartame developed malignant brain tumors. Aspartame breaks down to DKP, a brain tumor agent. They find aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen causing leukemia, lymphoma, kidney cancer and cancer of the cranial peripheral nerves. It makes world news, the most impeccable study ever done peer reviewed by 7 world experts.

What to do?! How can the manufacturers rebut this unrebuttable study. The scrambled to find something and came up with a ten year old form elderly people from AARP were asked to fill out, and try to remember what they had eaten. The only problem aspartame was not even on the form expect where they asked if they used a sweetener in coffee and tea, and if not skip to #27 and tell us if you use vitamins. The study was so impeccable there was simply nothing they could find fault with. Perhaps they studied Disney World and came up with the most outrageous statement saying the cancer had to have come from respiratory disease. Give the European Food Authority a prize for "Whopper of the Year"!!!!!!!!!!!! Who would believe such a statement when any physician knows that respiratory disease is part of the dying process as Director Dr. M. Soffritti discussed. In fact, on autopsies of aspartame victims we see pulmonary edema. Here is what Dr. Soffritti said:

"The European Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences "B. Ramazzini", the sole sponsor of a long-term carcinogenesis study demonstrating that aspartame is a multipotential carcinogenic agent in rodents, responded today to the opinion announced by the European Food Safety Authority's Panel on Food Additives, Flavorings, Processing Aids and Materials (AFC).

Scientific Director of the European Ramazzini Foundation and primary author of the aspartame study, Dr. Morando Soffritti, M.D., underlined the importance of EFSA's interest in the European Ramazzini Foundation's aspartame study saying, "as the Director of an independent, non-profit institution, I consider it an important recognition to have our data carefully considered by EFSA." Prior long-term carcinogenesis studies on aspartame (4 total) were conducted over 20 years ago by the producers of the artificial sweetener using a small number of animals per sex per group. The results of these studies provided the basis for the current opinion regarding the non-carcinogenicity of aspartame.

In responding to the AFC panel comments, Soffritti noted that "what the panel considers shortcomings of the study are instead distinctive and positive characteristics of our research protocol, research which has provided the scientific basis for changes in international regulations numerous times over the last 30 years." For instance, the European Ramazzini Foundation conducts what are known as lifespan mega-experiments, meaning that large groups of rodents are allowed to live out their natural lifespan and are examined for histopathological changes upon spontaneous death. This model is in contrast with most laboratories where rodents are sacrificed at 110 weeks of age (representing about 2/3 of the lifespan). The Ramazzini study design closely mirrors the human condition in which persons may be exposed to agents in the industrial and general environments from embryonic life until natural death. "Since 80% of cancer is diagnosed in humans over the age of 55, it is of paramount importance to observe how an agent affects laboratory animals in the last third of their lives", notes Soffritti. He added that "occurrence of chronic pulmonary inflammation is common in the natural dying process. Moreover, inflammation was observed in both animals who were treated with aspartame as well as in the control group." And listen to this whopper by the FDA on the European Aspartame Study: "To date, however, the agency has not been presented with scientific information that would support a change in our conclusions about the safety of aspartame." Then we might ask the FDA in reading their reports above who wrote this statement. Does he have a case of Alzheimers. Has the FDA forgotten the Bressler Report, their facts in their report revoking the petition for approval, and their FDA Commissioner telling congress that aspartame violates the Delaney Amendment. Maybe Dr. Adrian Gross' last words to Congress will come to mind: "And if the FDA violates its own law who is left to protect the public?"

He knows full well it has now been declared a global plague by H. J. Roberts, M.D., who testified before Congress, and who wrote the medical text. He has read the reports of Neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., author of Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills. I constantly send Dr. Hattan reports.

A generation of children have been damaged just as Dr. John Olney told the FDA would happen if they approved aspartame. He founded the field of neuroscience called excitotoxicity when he did studies on aspartic acid, 40% of the aspartame molecule, and found it caused lesions in the brains of mice. An excitotoxin is a product that literally simulates the neurons of the brain to death causing brain damage of varying degrees. Dr. Blaylock wrote the book on Excitotoxins, and others having to do with aspartame.

You will note that a copy of this is going to the FDA Commissioner as well as Dr. Hattan and the CDC. I've already written the FDA about their investigation of the Ramazzini Study. And I've told them while they are investigating this study I'm investigating their records. The respiratory fantasy has already been used so we wait with bated breath to see what Mother Goose tale they will come up to try and keep this deadly toxin on the market because of their relationship with the aspartame industry.

Talking about statements of the FDA here's one that shows you the absolute emphatic loyalty to the aspartame industry instead of the people. They told the New York Times, (The Lowdown on Sweet) 2/12/06: "Putting restrictions on aspartame would come at a significant cost. Food companies and consumers around the world bought about $570 million worth of it last year. New regulatory action on aspartame would also jeopardize the billions of dollars worth of products sold with it."..

Do you realize what they said, they don't want to remove aspartame because of the economic impact on the companies who are poisoning the public. Never mind that taking aspartame off the market would save the government BILLIONS of dollars in medical care from the diseases and horrors this deadly chemical poison triggers, and save consumers from disability, suffering and death from the horrors of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, birth defects, drug interactions and mental disease all documented on the aspartame issue.
